Splash into Reading with These Free Axolotl Bookmarks!
In a few weeks, I will return for yet another year to an elementary school library where I’ll be asked for the ever-popular books about axolotls. I’ll also be asked for bookmarks- a lot of bookmarks. Let’s say a good portion of my school year is spent at the copy machine running off sheets of bookmarks for the kids. As a result, I decided to create an axolotl bookmark based off a character in a book I’m developing.
The popularity of axolotls, as well as capybaras, amongst my students over the years served as the inspiration for the two main characters. Unlike my last book, A Perfect Pet for Oliver James, this story will focus on an all too common social-emotional conflict I’ve seen throughout my career, but the details of that are for another blog post. This post is about free downloadable bookmarks.
This little axolotl is both cute and a little grumpy.
These free printable axolotl bookmarks are available in both color and black and white. My students always request bookmarks they can color, so I like offering a black and white option for my readers with artistic talent. Download the free printable bookmarks here. Enjoy and happy reading!
